Message Hey Guys,

I know this has been covered before, breaking in a new engine....i'm going with no boost for 500 miles, then no more than 10psi for 500 miles, oil changes at 20, 200, 500, 1000 miles, then switching to synthetic and turning up the boost.

No idling for extended periods of time or long sustained rpm driving.

My question is this: I have every accessory system open: power steering, cooling system, a/c system. All of these require some bleeding procedure before driving the car (a/c can wait, for sure). But the cooling and power steering require extended idling to be able to bleed them. The coolant system needs the engine to warm up to operating temp to bleed the air out, or you'll quickly overheat the engine.

On first startup (after priming with oil first), should I let the engine warm up to operating temperature long enough to bleed the coolant and power steering lines, then shut it down and let cool completely before driving? I've heard that 90% of break in happens during the first 20 mins of running the engine. I don't want to damage this engine. Should I start it up on jackstands and run it through the gears while waiting for it to warm up? Thoughts?

"No, let's listen to you with your $600 blow off valvers [sic] that do nothing for your performance, but make a nice loud sneezing sound. That's smart! PS - Stage III does require an ECU upgrade MORAN...You probably never even got you hands dirty working on a car. Take care toolbox!" --djtz1

he sure got my number ;-)
